Overview

The Smartcat AI chat is the main way to work with Smartcat. It is built as a multi-agent system — a set of specialized AI Co-workers that work together to take over the manual work behind translation and localization.

When you send a message or upload a file, you are not talking to a single chatbot. Behind the scenes, multiple AI Co-workers coordinate: one understands what you need, another determines the right workflow, another handles the actual translation or content processing, and an orchestrating Co-worker makes sure everything runs in the right sequence. You interact with all of them through a single chat conversation, and you do not need to know which one is doing what.

How it replaces manual work

The traditional way of working with translation and localization involves many manual steps. You would typically need to create a project, upload files, select source and target languages, configure translation settings, choose a workflow, and then wait for results — moving through multiple screens and forms along the way.
