Cancel a paid subscription or turn off auto-renewal
Overview
Smartcat subscriptions automatically renew for additional 12-month periods at the end of the current term, unless otherwise specified in your Order Form. If you don't want your subscription to renew, you (or Smartcat) must give written notice 30 days before the renewal date — this is not a self-service toggle in the workspace.
When to use it
-
You have a paid annual (or other term) subscription and do not want it to renew automatically.
-
You want to confirm the exact date your current term ends and how much notice you need to give.
How to use it
-
Contact Smartcat Support at support@smartcat.ai (or your account representative) and state that you want to turn off auto-renewal.
-
Support routes the request internally to the Billing/Subscriptions (renewals) team.
-
The renewals team disables auto-renewal for the applicable term and confirms back to you in writing, including the exact date your current term runs to.
-
Your subscription and access continue unchanged until that end date — no service interruption.
Requirements and Limitations
-
Turning off auto-renewal is not self-service. There is no setting in your account to disable it yourself.
-
Per the Smartcat Customer Agreement, §4.1(b): either party may give written notice of termination 30 calendar days prior to the renewal date to stop the subscription from renewing.
-
Cancelling auto-renewal does not shorten your current term — you keep full access through the end of the period you've already paid for. Only the next renewal is affected.
-
If your cancellation request comes in after the 30-day window on the current term, Support routes it to apply to the next upcoming renewal instead.
FAQs
Will my subscription be cut off right away?
No. Cancelling auto-renewal only stops the next renewal charge; your current paid term runs its full course.
Can I do this myself in my account settings?
Not currently — it's handled by the Support/renewals team, not a self-service setting.
How much notice do I need to give?
At least 30 calendar days before your renewal date (Customer Agreement §4.1(b)).
Will I get confirmation?
Yes — the renewals team confirms in writing once auto-renewal has been disabled and includes the exact term-end date.
