Inriver Integration: Step-by-Step Guide

Learn how to set up and use the Smartcat Inriver integration to streamline your translation workflow. This guide covers everything from initial configuration to sending translations back to Inriver.

1. Pre-requisites

Prior to setting up the Smartcat Inriver integration collect the following parameters:

  • Inriver Base URL

  • Inriver REST API Key

Inriver Base URL

In your browser’s address bar you will find the Base URL for your Inriver account (e.g., https://company-name.productmarketingcloud.com/ ).

Inriver REST API Key

1. Log in to Inriver Control Center: Use your administrative credentials to sign in.

2. Navigate to User Management: On the Control Center start page, select "User Management."

3. Manage API Keys: Within "User Management," look for the section dedicated

to API key management. Here, you can create, view, and manage your API keys. Please note that the exact interface elements and their locations may vary depending on your Inriver version and configuration.

2. Configuring the integration

In your Smartcat account, go to Integrations and then to Add new integration. Look for Inriver and then click on Set up integration .

You will now be asked to name the integration and to provide your Inriver Base URL and Inriver REST API Key.

You will then be asked to pick your Inriver account’s source locale or language.

3. Using the Integration

To start the translation process, simply select your content and click Create translation. Select if you want to create a new project in Smartcat or upload a file to the existing project.

Enter the project data, such as name, deadline, and source and target language. You can select multiple target languages.

Select the appropriate workflow for your translation. The Automatic Translation → Post-Editing workflow allows Smartcat to select the most suitable AI engine for the initial translation. After that, you can review the translation yourself or invite a collaborator to your project in Smartcat.

Proceed to the Integration-specific settings by clicking the respective button below. Select the import mode for your translation: to import existing translations or skip this step.

You can also select which fields you would like to import and translate.

After the synchronization process is complete, you will see a list of target languages under the title of the original file. Click on the underlined title on the left to open your project in Smartcat. Or click on Open Editor to see the content and its translation.

Once the translation is complete, you can now send it back to Inriver by clicking on Send to Inriver.

When sending content back to Inriver, you can determine its Completion level (i.e., whether all steps of the translation workflow were completed or not) and confirm the Target languages.

Once synchronization is completed, you will be able to see the translation in Inriver.
