    What is Smartcat AI

    Smartcat AI is the intelligent layer of the Smartcat platform. It is built as a multi-agent system — a set of specialized AI agents that work together to take over the manual work behind translation and localization.

    Instead of managing files, tools, and workflows step by step, you can just describe what you need in plain language — and Smartcat AI agents will handle the process for you. You interact with Smartcat AI through a conversational chat interface available directly inside the platform.

    What Smartcat AI does

    Instead of setting up projects, preparing files, and coordinating steps manually, you can upload your content and get it translated, formatted, and ready for use — or guided through the next step if needed.

    Beyond translation, Smartcat AI covers a wide range of content operations — all from the same place:

    • Translate documents and files. Upload your files directly in the chat and get them translated into one or multiple languages. Smartcat AI handles file preparation, translation, and formatting automatically.

    • Localize websites. Connect your website and let Smartcat AI translate and adapt your web content for target markets.

    • Adapt videos. Translate subtitles, voiceovers, and video content to make your multimedia assets available in new languages.

    • Create multilingual courses. Build and localize training materials, e-learning content, and courses for global teams.

    How to work with the new Smartcat AI

    This is a new way to work in Smartcat — but you can still do everything you are used to. All your existing projects, translation memories, glossaries, and settings remain in place. Smartcat AI simply gives you a faster, more intuitive way to get things done.

    To get started, just tell Smartcat AI what you want to do or upload your files directly in the chat. For example, you can type "translate these files" or "localize a video" — and Smartcat AI will take it from there.

    Smartcat AI takes care of the setup for you. It chooses the right workflow, creates a project if needed, and either gives you the result directly or guides you to the next step when your input is required. You do not need to configure anything manually unless you want to.

    If you prefer a quicker start, you can use the shortcuts available in the chat interface. Shortcuts kick things off with a pre-configured setup — just pick the one that matches your task and Smartcat AI will begin working immediately.
